I was not aware that she was 10. (I just started reading your blog)
I was in 3rd grade, 9 years old when my Uncle and my mom were deployed to Persian Gulf war. We got really involved. We put yellow ribbons on the trees and changed them when they got dull. I remember doing it.
There is so much that you can do with a 10 year old. Get creative! Have fun! You can get through this. I promise!
